Quarter Life Crisis

I’m 23. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. I am currently working
on a Master’s degree in Bioengineering at UCSD.  

At first glance, you must be thinking- “hey,
this guy wants to be an engineer”.  In all honesty, I don’t like
engineering very much.   It’s not that I can’t do it; it’s just that
making a integrated circuit 10 nanometers smaller isn’t that interesting to me. I
know many of you undergraduate’s studying engineering feel the same way- I was
and sort of am still there.  What other
career’s are out there for someone with a technical background and
non-engineering vocational aspirations? 

While the engineering and development of technology doesn't fascinate me,
the commercialization of it does.  My
academic training has taught me the language of technology. This fluency has given me
opportunities to explore other aspects of the tech industry - from venture capital to technology
commercialization in academia.  While I am still in an exploratory stage in my
career (who isn’t?), this path is quite fascinating and has given me a definite direction in my career. In addition, these work experiences have
given me a unique opportunity to work with some amazingly successful people
(and to seek career advice from them).

My interactions with these successful veterans of the technology
industry, entrepreneurship and investing that inspired me to start this
blog where I can share this wisdom with everyone trying to survive their Quarter Life Crisis.

While the advice is great, to keep from getting too preachy with it, I will also talk about alternative career ideas and resources for technically trained newly grads.
