Seems like there is going to be quite a bit of IP infringement in this little variation of the nanoparticle tumor therapy. This company, Nanospectra, started this type of thing.

People have been throwing out the ideas of coating the particles with compounds that help target and kill drugs while preventing autoimmune response for a while now. Even my group at school has proposed this thing a few times already haha. I mean its a good idea and seems to work really well in rats, but the problem is still that these particles get stuck in all parts of your body over time and we don’t know how they’ll react long term.

Research isn’t my thing, but this just goes to show you that a lot of scientific research is all about taking something thats already out there and changing it a little bit.
