Millionaire Underachievers
Very interesting article about Silicon Valley millionaires who feel like they are underachievers.
“‘Mr. Kremen estimated his net worth at $10 million. That puts him firmly in the top half of 1 percent among Americans, according to wealth data from the Federal Reserve, but barely in the top echelons in affluent towns like Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Atherton. So he logs 60- to 80-hour workweeks because, he said, he does not think he has nearly enough money to ease up.”
It makes no sense to non-millionaires like you and me why these high achievers would feel like failures. But if you think about it, theres a reason why they have reached that baller status in the first place - they are ambitious (aka never satisfied with what they have) and are constantly surrounded by other high(er) achievers. There’s a reason why they are millionaires - they love the moolah and usually can’t get enough. So my advice to these rich guys who feel like nobodies, move out of Silicon Valley.
Quote from my friend when we were having a discussion about this subject:
“top half of 1 percent. the 99.5 percentile…
it’s kinda sad that he’s not working because he loves what he does, but to “strike it rich”
as ivan would say, and this will always be true: it’s all relative- unless you’re buffett or gates or fatboyslim, there will always be someone above him and your choice is to be happy with what you’ve got within, or to suffer for the material wealth that you are without “
It’s all about how you look at it. Put it in perspective people! Appreciate what you’ve got..
