Here’s a great entry for personal development from the resume Goddess, Jae.
“what i learned by age 24-almost-25:
ON FRIENDSHIP
be supportive when friends make mistakes…
because you’ll need friends when you make mistakes.
give your friends advice…
but if they don’t take it and they fuck up, don’t say i told you so.
when you think of an old friend, drop a line, pick up the phone, send a card, a text, anything…
there are some friends you can connect with no matter how long it’s been. not all friends are like that and it doesn’t make them worse.
not all your friends’ business is your business…
in fact, some of it is none of your business. don’t be nosy.
ON WORK
always do the best you can, but don’t kill yourself over work…
it’s only part of who you are and what your life is.
be polite to everyone you work with, and smile at someone every day…
they’re more likely to be polite to you and maybe someone will smile at you when you’re having a bad day.
don’t bring it home…
leave stress behind. you don’t get paid for worrying about work at home.
HOW TO IMPROVE A BAD DAY
do something for yourself.
read a magazine, get a manicure, give yourself a facial, take a yoga class.
but don’t smoke, drink, or eat junk food.
do something for someone else.
help a friend with a project or a problem. they’ll thank you and you’ll feel like the entire day wasn’t a bust.
drink tea and take a nap.
shut down and restart.
IN GENERAL…
learn from mistakes but let go of them
don’t hold grudges against other people or yourself
be sorry for wrongs you did to other people but don’t dwell on them
be nice to ex bfs and bad friends but dont trust them
most importantly… get to know who you are and like yourself.
about everything else, i still have no fucking clue.”
