Wharton MBA Admissions Criteria

Posted on August 18th, 2008 in MBA by Warren

“The 3 most important criteria for admission are:

  1. Academic performance
    • GPA (Wharton median = 3.5)
    • Major
    • Prestige/difficulty of university
  2. GMAT (Wharton median = 710)
    • Composite
    • Quant 45 or greater (Wharton median = 47)
  3. Work experience
    • Duration (Wharton median = 6 yrs)
    • Progression/performance

These 3 factors probably accounted for 80% of the decision to extend an interview.  About 35-40% of Wharton applicants get invited for an interview; then, 35-40% of those interviewed are admitted. “

No surprises here. Engineers lead the way. Specifically, computer engineers and programmers. Good choice of major, David. Now if I get my MBA at Stanford, will you please let me join your network?
